LIVOLTEK and the Amazon Pixundé Project, Bringing Clean Energy to the Rivers and Future of the Amazon

In the vast heart of the Amazon, a transformation toward a sustainable future is quietly taking shape. LIVOLTEK, together with several local institutions, has officially launched the Pixundé Project, delivering 20 electric outboard motors to support over 60 families in the municipality of Careiro da Várzea, Amazonas. With clean propulsion, the project aims to help local fisheries transition toward greener and more efficient operations.

Inspired by Nature, Bringing Technology Back to Daily Life

The name Pixundé comes from the poraquê (electric eel) of the Amazon River, an organism naturally capable of generating electricity, symbolizing the perfect blend of nature’s power and clean technology.

The initiative is a model of multi-stakeholder collaboration. Livoltek provides the electric outboard motors and full technical support, while Instituto Somar Amazônia is responsible for coordination and technical feasibility. Sindipesca oversees distribution and follow-up with local fishermen.

At the same time, the Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM) and the State University of Amazonas (UEA) will contribute experts to produce technical reports and academic studies based on real-world test results.

The project is also supported by Suframa and is building pathways for future cooperation with organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Resources Institute (WRI).

Balancing Sustainability with Economic Benefits

The project aims to help fishermen reduce fuel expenses, minimize noise and pollution from combustion engines, and systematically evaluate key indicators such as endurance, energy consumption, and maintenance costs of electric propulsion systems in Amazonian waterways.

Focusing on job creation and income generation, the initiative strengthens the local economy while respecting the forest environment. Expected results include significant improvements in fuel savings, environmental impact, and operational efficiency for local fishermen.

“This marks the beginning of a transformation in river mobility in the state of Amazonas,” emphasized Orsine Junior, Director of Instituto Somar Amazônia. “As energy access expands, riverine families gain greater dignity, and electric outboard motors are proving their transformative value, more sustainable, cheaper to operate, and requiring far less maintenance.”

Driving Regional Green Transformation: From Validation to Local Manufacturing

In 2026, Livoltek plans to begin local production of its marine propulsion product line in the Manaus Industrial District. As a global leader in energy solutions, Livoltek is steadily becoming a key strategic partner in driving the region’s energy transition.

“Producing electric engines in Manaus is a source of pride for Livoltek,” said Flávio Pimenta, LATAM Mobility Director at Livoltek. “We are combining technology with purpose to strengthen the local economy, create jobs, and bring innovation to communities that truly represent the spirit of the Amazon. This is an important step toward cleaner and more inclusive mobility.”

Tracing the Course of Change Together

The official handover ceremony took place on November 14, 2025, at RONAV Port, marking only the beginning of a new journey. The Pixundé Project showcases the Amazon’s potential as a center for sustainable energy innovation and reflects Livoltek’s commitment to driving the energy transition through its comprehensive energy solutions, including solar inverters, battery storage, EV chargers, solar lights, and electric boat motors.

Together, we witness how technology and nature can coexist in harmony, creating a brighter future for communities along the Amazon River.
