Livoltek Strengthens Market Leadership with Landmark 2.35MWh BESS Deployment at HubSalt Refinery

To reinforce its position as a global leader in advanced energy storage and solar solutions, Livoltek has announced the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and an EPC agreement between HubSalt and Optimisen. The agreements are for the deployment of a 2.35MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) integrated with a 1.44MW solar PV system at the HubSalt Refinery in Sindh, Pakistan. Powered by Livoltek’s cutting-edge technology, this milestone represents the company’s first high-capacity BESS deployment in Pakistan, further strengthening its presence in South Asia.

The project will be carried out by Optimisen as the EPC partner, integrating their advanced engineering capabilities with Livoltek’s state-of-the-art energy storage technologies. This initiative marks a transformative milestone in HubSalt’s operational development, shifting the facility from a completely diesel-reliant, off-grid configuration to a clean, high-performance hybrid solar-plus-storage power system—enhancing sustainability, energy autonomy, and long-term cost effectiveness.

Designed as a sophisticated off-grid hybrid energy system, this solution combines high-efficiency lithium-based energy storage with optimized charge and discharge cycles, along with an intelligent Energy Management System (EMS) for real-time monitoring and predictive control. It supports peak shaving, load shifting, and fast response for backup power and grid stabilization. The system features a modular and scalable architecture to facilitate future expansion, while robust safety mechanisms and advanced thermal management ensure dependable operation in challenging industrial conditions.

Beyond its technological advances, the project brings significant economic and environmental benefits. Each year, it is expected to replace around 360,000 liters of diesel, cutting dependence on imported fuel and directly supporting import substitution, which helps ease pressure on Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves. In addition, the system will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2,000 tons annually—an effect comparable to planting over 90,000 trees—underscoring its contribution to climate action and sustainable development. The initiative also enables HubSalt to engage in global carbon markets, with the potential to generate certified carbon credits under internationally recognized frameworks such as Verra and the Gold Standard.

This project represents a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s industrial energy transition. It showcases how forward-thinking companies can harmonize operational efficiency with environmental stewardship, all while enhancing industrial competitiveness and strengthening the nation’s energy resilience. For Livoltek, it serves as a powerful market entry for its high-performance BESS solutions. For Optimisen, it stands as one of the most technically complex and largest EPC projects it has ever undertaken. For HubSalt, it solidifies its leadership in sustainable manufacturing and innovation-led growth.

On this occasion, Mr. Max Ma, Director of Sales at Livoltek, commented: “We are proud that Livoltek’s BESS technology is serving as the foundation of this landmark project at HubSalt. This deployment proves that renewable energy, when combined with advanced storage solutions, can act as a primary power source for industrial operations in Pakistan. Building on this success, we are dedicated to rolling out more BESS projects across the country, aiming to deploy around 20 MW of BESS-related capacity this year—thereby contributing to Pakistan’s journey toward more efficient, reliable, and sustainable energy systems.”

Mr. Ismail Suttar, CEO of HubSalt, stated: “This project represents a fundamental change in our operational approach, as we transition from reliance on diesel to a cleaner, more sustainable energy system. Through the integration of cutting-edge renewable technologies, we are enhancing our operational robustness and establishing a new standard for clean energy adoption within Pakistan’s industrial landscape. This initiative aligns with our long-term vision of leading through sustainable industrial practices, while also supporting national goals such as energy security and reducing fuel imports.”

Mr. Faisal Mehdi Khan, Director Technical at Optimisen, stated: “Optimisen takes pride in executing this flagship project as the EPC partner, achieving seamless integration of solar PV and advanced BESS technologies in line with the highest engineering standards. This partnership establishes a new benchmark for industrial energy initiatives in Pakistan and paves the way for scaling similar solutions across the country. We remain dedicated to promoting the widespread adoption of energy storage technologies and building a more resilient, future-ready energy ecosystem.”

This strategic partnership highlights a mutual dedication to speeding up the use of renewable energy and transforming industrial power systems in Pakistan. With ongoing increases in energy demand, the deployment of solar PV and BESS at HubSalt establishes a benchmark for dependable, economical, and eco-friendly energy solutions throughout the industrial sector.

Looking forward, the next stage of development is anticipated to increase energy storage capacity on a broader scale and promote wider use of advanced Energy Management Systems—establishing new benchmarks for intelligent energy management in Pakistan’s growing energy sector.
